The people you will be supporting lead busy, busy lives - they need you to keep up with them and share their joy in their favoured activities. You will need to be proactive, engaging and caring as you support people with learning disabilities, to live their best lives - the lives that they choose to live.
Every day will be different, and rewarding, as you encourage and empower each person to be actively engaged in every aspect of their daily lives - this will include accompanying to favoured activities and support with medication, personal care and mobility assistance, as required.
You will also be supporting people to run their own home - budgeting, housework, weekly menu planning, grocery shopping and rolling your sleeves in the garden. Families are very involved, so keeping those relationships are vital part of the role.
